London - Britain's Prince Harry, third in line to the throne, has split with his girlfriend Chelsy Davy after five years, British media reported on Saturday.
According to the BBC and Britain's domestic Press Association, both of which cited unnamed royal sources, the 24-year-old split with Davy, a post-graduate law student at Leeds University, weeks after holidaying with her in Mauritius.A royal spokesperson declined to comment on the reports, which said the split was amicable.
It was unclear what had caused the break-up, but the News of the World weekly tabloid said that it was Davy's decision to end the relationship.
The prince reportedly met Davy, the Zimbabwe-born daughter of millionaire safari operator Charles Davy, through mutual friends in early 2004 when the latter was in school.
Shortly thereafter in 2005, Davy took up a university place in Cape Town, South Africa, while the royal began training at Britain's elite officer academy at Sandhurst, beginning three years during which the pair sustained a long-distance relationship.
The couple reportedly separated for a brief time in late 2007, apparently because Harry missed Davy's 22nd birthday party to watch the rugby World Cup final in Paris.
